Mojave Mosaics
The Face Behind Mojave Mosaics
About Kacy Dalton
I am a versatile mosaic artist who lives and practices in my home studio in Joshua Tree, California. I am a self-taught mosaicist who has found happiness in the Morongo Basin amongst the many other talented artists of the area. As a young adult I dabbled in the arts but struggled finding a medium that truly captured my creativity. I stumbled into the mosaic practice because I took on a project tiling my shower in my small homestead cabin in Wonder Valley. Throughout the process of learning and playing with tile I truly found my purpose and meaning in the world. I have spent years honing in my mosaic skills while playing with different glass and tile materials. My mosaics are created by meticulously cutting and shaping every single little piece by hand. I push the boundaries of this ancient art form through my out-of-the-box approach and enjoy experimentation trying new techniques. I incorporate recycled and found objects, natural plants, and other mixed-media alongside traditional glass and tile to create my works. My pieces are full of color and whimsy, creating vibrant desert pieces and unique pop art style imagery.
